Nicholas Braun (born May 1, 1988) is an American actor. He portrayed Greg Hirsch on the HBO series Succession.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Nicholas Joseph Braun was born on May 1, 1988, in Long Island, New York, to Craig Braun, an actor and former graphic designer[n 1], and Elizabeth Lyle.[1] After his parents' divorce in 1993, he began living in both Connecticut with his mother and in Manhattan with his father. He has two paternal half-brothers.[2][3]
Braun attended boarding school as a teenager,[1] and focused on acting during summer breaks.[4] He enrolled in Occidental College intending to study math, but dropped out after two years to further pursue acting.[2][3]
Career[]
Braun made his on-screen debut in the 2001 film Walter and Henry. In 2005, he appeared in the "cult classic"[5] Disney film Sky High, which then led to his starring in the Disney Channel original films Minutemen (2008) and Princess Protection Program (2009).[6] He was then given a recurring role in ABC Family's 10 Things I Hate About You, but the series was cancelled after one year. He has since appeared in major films such as The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), How to Be Single (2016), Zola (2020), and Cat Person (2023).
In 2018, he was cast as Greg Hirsch in the HBO series Succession. For this performance, he received critical acclaim[2] and was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards.[7]
Personal life[]
Braun has invested in various bars and restaurants in New York City.[8][4]
Controversy[]
In early 2023, several women alleged that Braun had acted inappropriately toward them while they were underage. It began with one woman who, in a now-deleted TikTok video, claimed that she had met Braun at Coachella and he attempted to have sex with her that night, despite being aware that she was 16.[9] According to one Reddit user, it is "widely known in New York City" that Braun uses Ray's, a bar that he co-owns with Justin Theroux, "to seek out younger women to sleep with."[10] However, none of the allegations against Braun have been substantiated, and the actor has not commented on the accusations.[11][12]
