Furness Media Groups is an international media conglomerate based in the United States.

Information[]

The group serves as the primary competitor in the media world to Waystar Royco, attempting a hostile takeover of the company for much of the show. It is implied to be larger and more influential than Pierce Global Media. FGM also owns the British newspaper company The Post. Personnel include Sandy Furness as CEO, his daughter Sandi, and Stewy Hosseini.

History[]

Season 1[]

In the aftermath of Logan Roy suffering from a stroke, Sandy visits the headquarters of Waystar Royco to give his condolences and speak with Kendall Roy. Roy is heard referring to Furness Media Groups as Pepsi, in comparison to Waystar being Coke.[1]

Sandy reveals that FMG is secretly aligned with Stewy's fund Maesbury Capital via a shell company, with Hosseini (now a board member due to his investment) acting as Furness' mole inside Waystar.[2]

Season 2[]

Season 3[]

At the annual Waystar Royco shareholders meeting, a settlement deal is struck whereby FMG and Maesbury Capital halt their attempts to fully takeover and acquire Waystar. The deal includes FMG holding four board seats, veto power against any member of the Roy family being appointed as CEO, and the abandoning of the Roy family private jets.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Despite serving as a significant competitor and antagonist throughout the show, the company is only referred to by name in "Retired Janitors of Idaho".
