Eduard comes from a wealthy family in Azerbaijan, presumably tied to government and oil. His father has been said to have close connections to the central bank.
Season 2[]
Gerri Kellman finds Roman Roy and informs him, he needs to secure a position with Eduard Asgarov because things are happening in the company right now and they are facing uncertainty. Roman reluctantly agrees. That night, Roman finds Eduard in the bathroom after following Eduard in. Eduard agrees to give Waystar Royco money if their media company agrees to quietly propagandize the government's perspective about his home country, Azerbaijan and its capital, Baku. Roman, again reluctantly agrees. [1]
While in Scotland in a pub, Roman meets with Eduard and the two talk about money, and they both agreed to buy a soccer team together, and pick Hearts, which Roman thinks is Logan's favorite team. Unfortunately, it turns out that Logan's favorite team was actually Hibs (Hibernian), a Hearts rival, and Roman is now stuck with Hearts. [2]
Eduard meets with Roman in Turkey to discuss a business deal regarding Waystar Royco. They are accompanied by two Romans colleagues, Karl and Jamie Laird while watching the Hearts soccer team they now own. They make their way up to their private hotel-suite to talk details when men with guns enter their room. Eduard immediately realizes what is happening, and calmly informs Rome they are being held hostage by terrorists. It appears that Roman, Karl, and Laird are simply bargaining chips, and no harm comes to any of them. After being moved to the dining room, Eduard and Roman begin to talk business once again as Eduard walks back between him and his partners. They soon agree upon a deal, before Roman is taken away by the terrorists. [3]
